With Master degree from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi & Praveen (Silver Medalist) from Prayag Sangit Samitee,Allahabad, the gifted dancer has now dedicated herself to the art of Kathak. A competent performer, teacher and choreographer, she heads her own dance institution, Rag Virag kala Kendra in Delhi.

Punita Sharma, disciple of the Jai Kishan Maharaj, son of great maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj (Lucknow Gharana) and Mirdul Chandra Mishra (Banaras Gharana) has evolved over the years into an artist of the finest caliber.

A graded artist of Delhi Doordarshan, Punita dances with a hypnotic force & subtle sensitivity combining rhythmic virtuosity with delicate expressiveness. To render any theme in dance, she would enrich her presentation, not by carding the events of the story, but by interpreting a small portion of the story in several projections.

Punita gave Kathak dance a new dimension by developing her own unique style, popularizing this classical Indian dance all over the world. Her dance and lecture demonstrations have been documented for reference by various institutions and universities both India & abroad.
